10:20 a.m. DALLAS, TEXAS
WCM Claudia Munoz defeated Sarna Kristen in the 5th round positioning herself for an excellent final standing in this "ALL GIRLS NATIONAL CHESS TOURNAMENT" sponsored by the Kasparov Foundationa and the Dallas Chess Club. The 6th and final round will be played at 11:30 a.m. However the main story of this round is the victory of Simone Laio of California over #1 ranked Evan Xiang. The picture above is that of Simone and Claudia as they were part of the American team that played in the NORTH AMERICAN YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP 2007 in Aguascalientes, Mexico. Simone then won the Gold Medal in the under-8 category while Claudia won the Gold Medal in the under-10 category. Simone in this tournament elected to play in a higher category since the highest rated player in her own category was rated no more than 1200.
8:55 a.m. DALLAS, TEXAS
The players are getting ready to start the 5th round of the ALL GIRLS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP with WCM Claudia Munoz starting the day in the 8th spot with 3.0/4. Currently their are 3 players undefeated, 1 player with 3.5 points and numerous players in the hunt with 3.0 out of 4. Claudia will be playing Sarna Kristen whom she faced in the BLITZ Category of the "SUSAN POLGAR NATIONAL OPEN".
Mexico Daniela Hurtado de la Parra is currently in 3rd place in the 17 and under category and is fighting for first place with two rounds left in the tourney. The two families, the de la Parra and the Munoz family had supper together after the 4th round last night.
La Mexicana Daniela Hurtado de la Parra esta en la 3era posición comenzando la 5ta ronda y actualmente esta en el tablero numero 1 luchando por el campeonato de la categoría sub-17. Las dos familias, de la Parra y la familia Munoz cenaron anoche al finalizar las la 4ta ronda.

2º Preguntarle que, que paso con su proyecto de Universidad del ajedrez On Line.Se veia sper interesante hace años y de pronto desaparecio... Ojala lo retomara!

Muy bien Hugo. Me informo Claudia (mi esposa) que Kasparov no estaba en la ceremonia de apertura mas que el portavoz de la Fundacion Kasparov estaba presente en su lugar. Le pasare el recado a mi esposa esperando que Kasparov este en la ceremonia de premiacion como lo hizo Susan Polgar en su torneo.
